FAQs

Why should I buy one of your embroidery patterns or the Stitch and Thimble?

You won't find my embroidery designs anywhere else, and I've struggled to find similar designs. I put a lot of time and effort into not only the embroidery designs, but the patterns and publication as well, to ensure that all my offerings are of the highest quality. This goes for all aspects of the product you buy, from the list of requirements to the instructions. If you're a beginner, you'll find my patterns full of new stitches to learn and the instructions are easy and straightforward. But I design for embroiderers of all skill levels, so there's something for everyone.

Why is everything you produce in digital format?

There are many reasons for choosing digital over print at this stage. These are the main ones:

  • Accessibility - you can buy one of my patterns or the Stitch and Thimble and receive it anywhere in the world almost instantaneously without leaving your home.
  • Interactivity - I can include clickable links to online resources to save you time trawling the internet for them.
  • Ease of publishing - There's only me, so it allows me to focus on designing rather than getting bogged down in the world of print publishing.
  • Economics - It costs less for me to produce digital products and I pass this saving on to you. And in environmental terms, fewer printed pages mean fewer pulped trees.

How did you come up with name the Stitch and Thimble?

The name came about as a result of living in England, surrounded by pubs. There are some where locals may as well engrave their names on to their bar stools, they're such a fixture. Gastro pubs provide the best of both worlds - food and drink (I highly recommend the Earl Spencer in southwest London for Sunday roasts). Some pubs are family-oriented and others pride themselves on their vast selection of beer. Others still are landmarks that have been there for centuries.

Naturally I began thinking how nice it would be to have a pub around the corner dedicated to stitching, where you could spend a cold winter's day working on your latest project among like-minded folk with good food and drinks on tap, be it a cup of tea or a pale ale. The name, in keeping with traditional British pub names, would be the Stitch and Thimble.

So when it came to pondering a name for the publication - on a wooden bench in a central London churchyard during my lunch break on a chilly spring day - my imaginary pub sprang to mind. And so it came to be.
